Over the past 6 seasons we have organised 73 different events, including:
2 x Moto GP,
3 x World Superbikes,
1 x Moto-Cross des Nations,
7 x non-championship Nationals
and 61 Thundersport GB Championship meetings.
Throughout all of those events we have been able to rely on John Downes
(or Uncle Albert as we all know him)
as our Chief Marshal.
The post of Chief Marshal can be as simple or as involved and all consuming as the individual wants it to be. The very best men for the job take it very seriously indeed and that means putting in massive effort to get it done smoothly and seamlessly.
"John has always been truly magnificent in his efforts and I have never worked with anyone else who has been more diligent, hard working or as deeply involved in the actual event as him. We have many happy memories of organising events together ranging from chasing thieves around the Moto GP marshals campsite at 3am, to being bored senseless by a six hour moped endurance.
The thought that Donington Park 2013 was his last event as our Chief Marshal makes me very sad as I have been able to rely on him one hundred percent, for so long to do this difficult job. On the other hand, I am also very happy for him as I know that he has always wanted to have his own race team and he is about to fulfil that long term ambition. Having seen the determination and attention to detail that he puts into every task he takes on, I know that this is certain to be just the start of a new and successful adventure for him!"

I’m sure you’ll all want to join us in wishing our dearest Albert every success and more importantly in saying:
“Thanks Unc, for being the very best in the business!”
